Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have arrested eight individuals suspected of involvement in the suicide bombing at a mosque in Maiduguri, Borno State, on December 24, 2025.
The attack, which took place at Gamborun Market mosque, killed at least five worshippers and injured 35 others after a bomber detonated an improvised explosive device (IED) during prayers.
In a statement on Monday, Operation Hadin Kai’s media information officer, Sani Uba, said the suspects were apprehended during an early morning raid in the Yan Lemo area of Mubi South Local Government Area in Adamawa State.
Among those arrested are “two principal suspects believed to be key facilitators within the suicide bombing network,” Uba stated.
A search of their residence yielded cash, mobile phones, identification documents, ATM cards, jewellery, and other personal effects, which are now undergoing forensic analysis.
Uba added that a suspect already in custody positively identified the two principal suspects as suppliers of materials used in preparing the IED. Other occupants of the residence were also linked to the network.
All eight suspects remain in military custody and are undergoing detailed interrogation for further intelligence gathering before being handed over for prosecution.
