The Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes (CCII) has criticised former Ekiti State governor, Ayodele Fayose, over his allegation that Seyi Makinde is planning to remove the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Rashidi Ladoja.
In a statement issued on Sunday in Ibadan by its Publicity Secretary, Kola Olomide, the council described Fayose’s remarks as misleading and capable of politicising traditional institutions.
The statement, quoting CCII President-General, Ajeniyi Ajewole, said the claim was unfounded and could incite unnecessary tension in Ibadanland.
Fayose had earlier alleged on his X handle that Makinde was plotting to depose the monarch, claiming the process would begin with a government query over the Olubadan’s absence at a recent coronation of high chiefs.
Reacting, the CCII said such comments amounted to unwarranted interference in the affairs of Ibadanland and warned against statements capable of creating unrest.
The council urged stakeholders to exercise restraint and avoid actions that could undermine the peace and stability of the traditional institution.
