Nollywood actor Charles Okocha emerged victorious over street-pop singer Habeeb Okikiola after their highly publicised celebrity boxing rematch ended in controversy at the Balmoral Convention Centre, Federal Palace Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos.
The bout, tagged “Unfinished Business,” took place on Friday as part of the Chaos in the Ring boxing franchise and attracted fans eager to witness the latest chapter in the entertainers’ rivalry.
The contest got off to an explosive start, with both men exchanging punches before the fight took an unexpected turn. Portable grabbed Okocha during the opening round and wrestled him to the canvas, prompting the referee to halt the action.
As tensions flared inside the ring, security personnel and bouncers rushed in to separate the fighters and restore order while officials attempted to calm the situation.
After the opening round concluded, Portable unexpectedly walked out of the ring, drawing loud boos from sections of the crowd as spectators watched the contest grind to a halt.
The singer later returned and argued that bringing Okocha to the ground should have earned him victory. However, fight officials rejected the claim, ruling that his decision to leave the ring amounted to abandoning the contest.
The referee subsequently declared Okocha the winner, bringing the much-anticipated rematch to an abrupt and dramatic conclusion.
