The Cheshire High School Old Students’ Association (CHSOSA) has commissioned newly renovated classrooms and laboratories at Cheshire High School, Oyo State, in a bid to enhance teaching and learning at the institution.
The project, which comprises three classrooms and two laboratories, was officially inaugurated today at the school premises. The event drew a large gathering of old students, school management, teachers, students and invited guests.
Speaking at the commissioning, the President of CHSOSA, Babajide Abatan, said the initiative was part of the association’s commitment to giving back to its alma mater and creating a more conducive learning environment for students.
Representing the Oyo State Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Olusegun Olaiyiwola, Adewusi Akorede commended the old students for their intervention. He urged other alumni associations to emulate the gesture by supporting the development of public schools.
In her remarks, the school principal, Tijani Motunrayo, expressed gratitude to CHSOSA, noting that the upgraded facilities would significantly improve effective teaching, learning and students’ practical experiences.
Also speaking, the Chairman of the School Governing Board and a retired principal of the school, Olu Kayode, JP, described the project as a clear demonstration that government alone cannot shoulder all responsibilities in the education sector.
He added that collaborative efforts such as this are essential for sustainable development in public schools.
