The presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), Omoyele Sowore, has yet to fulfil the bail conditions granted to him by Justice Mohammed Umar of the Federal High Court in Abuja.
At the resumed hearing of the alleged defamation case filed by the Department of State Services (DSS), counsel for the prosecution, Akinlolu Kehinde (SAN), informed the court that Sowore had not perfected the conditions attached to his bail.
Kehinde subsequently urged the court to order that the AAC chieftain be remanded at the Kuje Correctional Centre pending compliance with the bail conditions.
Responding, Sowore’s counsel, Olumide Fusika, told the court that the verification of the required documents had already been completed.
He assured the court that Sowore’s international passport would be deposited before the close of business on Monday to satisfy the outstanding bail requirement.
Fusika also appealed to the court to allow Sowore to remain in his custody until the next adjourned date of July 13, assuring the judge that all bail conditions would be fully complied with before then.
