The Ekiti State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) has distributed 20 operational vehicles to Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) officers across the 16 Local Government Education Authorities (LGEAs) in the state.
The Executive Chairman of SUBEB, Prof. Femi Akinwumi, described the initiative as a strategic investment in strengthening the monitoring, supervision and quality assurance of public primary schools across the state.
Akinwumi spoke while flagging off the distribution of the vehicles, explaining that they would enhance school supervision, data collection and timely reporting by M&E officers.
The SUBEB chairman said the improved mobility would enable M&E officers to reach hard-to-access schools, monitor compliance with established standards, and provide timely data for effective policy formulation.
In his address, the Permanent Secretary of the Board, Michael Omolayo, described the procurement and distribution of the vehicles as a demonstration of the commitment of the Oyebanji administration and SUBEB management to repositioning basic education for greater efficiency and improved outcomes.
Also, the Commissioner for Human Resources Management, Dr Olufunke Fajobi, congratulated the Board and the beneficiaries, saying the initiative aligned with the administration’s human capital development agenda.
She commended the SUBEB chairman for prioritising staff welfare and operational efficiency, noting that an adequately equipped and motivated workforce was essential to improving learning outcomes.
In her remarks, the Executive Secretary of the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC), Dr Aisha Garba — represented by the UBEC State Coordinator, Tokunbo Olajubu — said Ekiti had remained a model in the effective utilisation of UBEC matching grants and the implementation of the commission’s programmes, assuring that UBEC would continue to support the state’s efforts to improve basic education.
