The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria has taken delivery of two ambulifts for deployment at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, as part of efforts to improve accessibility and passenger services for travellers with reduced mobility.
FAAN disclosed this in a statement shared on its official X handle on Thursday, saying the equipment would provide additional assistance to passengers who require support while boarding or disembarking from aircraft.
According to the authority, the ambulifts are designed to ensure that passengers with mobility limitations receive safe, efficient and dignified assistance throughout their airport journey.
FAAN said the keys to the two ambulifts were formally handed over to NACHO Aviation Services by its Director of Airport Operations, Capt. Abdullahi Mahmood, who will oversee their deployment and operation at the airport.
The authority said the initiative forms part of its broader efforts to strengthen passenger facilitation services and improve the overall travel experience at Nigerian airports.
FAAN added that the deployment underscores its commitment to ensuring that all passengers, regardless of their mobility challenges, have access to appropriate support and assistance while travelling.
