The Federal Government has reduced the timeline for the reconstruction of Lagos’ Carter Bridge from the initially planned 36 months to 24 months.
The Minister of Works, Dave Umahi, disclosed this on Monday during an inspection of the ongoing reconstruction works on the Carter and Iddo Bridges in Lagos.
Umahi said the revised timeline was aimed at accelerating the delivery of the critical infrastructure and reducing the impact of the reconstruction on residents and road users.
The Carter Bridge is an important transport link in Lagos, and its reconstruction is expected to improve connectivity and ease movement within the metropolis.
The Minister also inspected ongoing works on the Iddo Bridge as part of efforts by the Federal Government to monitor the progress of major infrastructure projects in Lagos.
Further details on the revised construction schedule and specific milestones are expected as work progresses.
