Harry Kane etched his name into football history on Friday night, becoming the fastest player this century to score 100 goals for a club in Europe’s top five leagues.
The England captain struck twice in Bayern Munich’s victory over Werder Bremen, reaching the milestone in just 104 appearances. His first came from the penalty spot on the stroke of half-time, before adding a close-range finish in the 65th minute.
The achievement eclipses the previous benchmark of 105 games, set by Cristiano Ronaldo at Real Madrid in 2011 and later matched by Manchester City’s Erling Haaland.
Kane’s goals followed an opener from former Liverpool winger Luis Díaz, who diverted in Jonathan Tah’s flick from a corner. Konrad Laimer added a late strike as Bayern extended their unbeaten run at the top of the Bundesliga.
The 31-year-old continues a prolific start to life in Germany, having also broken two scoring records with a hat-trick in Bayern’s 4-1 triumph over Hoffenheim last weekend.
