The Executive Chairman of Ifelodun Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Mayor Dr. Olufemi Akanbi Okeowo, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to sustaining development projects and improving the quality of life for residents.
Okeowo gave the assurance during an inspection tour of ongoing and completed projects across the council area, where he assessed the progress of various development initiatives.
During the tour, the council chairman inspected the ongoing interlocking of Oyedeji Street and the construction of a Primary Health Centre, alongside other projects located across several communities.
The inspection covered completed and ongoing works on streets including Ogungbe, Oluboade, Ìgbàjà, Adegboyega/Edidi, Muda, Ofure, Sola Oluwole, Coker Road and Market Street.
As part of the activities, the council also extended support to small-scale business owners through an empowerment initiative. Two beneficiaries received financial assistance of ₦100,000 each to strengthen their businesses.
The beneficiaries were Mrs. Dorathy, a roasted corn seller at Ogungbe Street, and Mrs. Angelina Augustine, a trader at Adegboyega Street.
In another initiative aimed at supporting education, the chairman distributed 500 free GCE forms to students from various secondary schools during a programme held at the Legislative Hall of the Ifelodun LCDA Secretariat.
The students expressed appreciation for the support, describing the gesture as an opportunity to further their educational pursuits.
Speaking on the initiatives, Chairman of the House Committee on Education, Ajibola Ojora Adediyan, and the Information Officer, Public Affairs, Lanre Babatunde, commended Mayor Okeowo for his continued interventions and commitment to grassroots development.
They noted that the projects and empowerment programmes have had a positive impact on residents across Ifelodun LCDA.
