The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has extended the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise in Lagos State by two weeks, giving eligible residents additional time to register ahead of future elections.
In a statement issued on Monday, the commission said the exercise, which began on August 18, 2025, and was initially scheduled to end on July 10, 2026, will now conclude on Sunday, July 26, 2026.
According to INEC, the extension is aimed at providing more eligible residents who are yet to register with another opportunity to be included in the National Register of Voters.
The commission also announced the introduction of a self-service online registration platform for eligible first-time voters.
It said the new online registration option will become available from Wednesday, July 8, 2026, allowing prospective voters to complete the registration process using their personal devices through the commission’s dedicated Continuous Voter Registration portal.
INEC explained that the platform features a user-friendly registration process, as well as identity verification and biometric validation measures designed to protect the integrity of the National Register of Voters.
The = urged all eligible residents who have not yet registered to take advantage of both the extension and the newly introduced online registration platform.
The statement was signed by the Head of Voter Education and Publicity, INEC Lagos State, Mr. Taiwo Gbadegesin.
