Iran’s President Masoud Pezeshkian says his country would never surrender to Israel and the United States, as the Middle East war entered its second week.
Pezeshkian said, in a speech broadcast on state TV that Iran’s enemies must take their wish for the unconditional surrender of the Iranian people to their graves.
U.S. President Donald Trump in a social media post had demanded Tehran’s unconditional surrender as the war in Iran entered its second week with uncertainty growing about when hostilities will end.
Trump’s comments came hours after Pezeshkian posted on social media that unnamed countries had begun mediation efforts, briefly raising hopes of a resolution.
In the meantime, multiple reports have surfaced also alleging that Russia was providing Iran with intelligence, but the scope of Moscow’s support to Tehran was not immediately clear from the report.
Although the White House has downplayed the reports, it has not denied that Moscow was sharing intelligence with Tehran about American targets in the region.
White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt told the media on Friday that the alleged information sharing makes no difference in Iran as US completely decimating them,”
Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, said the US was tracking everything and factoring it into battle plans, when asked about the reports Russia was aiding Iran.
Russia is among the few countries that maintain friendly ties with Iran which has, for years, been isolated by most of the international community over its nuclear program and its support for its regional proxy militias.
