The Lagos State Government has urged residents to adopt a culture of voluntary environmental cleanliness instead of waiting for movement restrictions to tidy their surroundings.
The appeal was made by the Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, during the AskLagos programme on X Space.
He encouraged Lagosians to dedicate a few hours on one Saturday each month to sanitation efforts in their communities.
The commissioner explained that the decision to reintroduce organized sanitation exercises followed due legal processes and aims to strengthen a culture of waste management across the state.
Wahab also assured that the government would continue to enforce environmental laws and prosecute offenders to ensure compliance and maintain a clean and healthy environment in Lagos.
