The Lagos State Government has announced the apprehension of 396 beggars by operatives of the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps (LAGESC) as part of its ongoing campaign to improve environmental sanitation and address illegal activities across the state.
According to the Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, the operation forms part of the government’s sustained efforts to maintain public order and ensure a cleaner and safer environment for residents.
The commissioner disclosed that all apprehended individuals will undergo profiling before being provided with appropriate support where necessary. They will also be handed over to the relevant authorities to facilitate their safe return to their respective states of origin.
The Lagos State Government reiterated that the exercise underscores its commitment to environmental sustainability, public safety, and the enforcement of laws aimed at keeping Lagos clean, orderly, and secure for all residents.
