The Lagos State Police Command has debunked circulating reports suggesting an impending cult-related clash in parts of the state, assuring residents that adequate security measures have been put in place to maintain peace.
In a statement by the Command’s spokesperson, SP Abimbola Adebisi, the police addressed concerns over alleged threats in areas including Shitta, Akerele, Itire/Aguda, and Ishaga.
The reports had claimed a possible reprisal attack following an earlier incident.
The Command, however, emphasized that it had taken proactive steps to prevent any breakdown of law and order.
According to the statement, police personnel and operational assets were swiftly deployed to the affected locations and surrounding communities immediately after receiving initial reports.
The statement urged residents to continue their daily activities without fear.
The police also cautioned against the spread of unverified information, warning that such rumours could create unnecessary panic.
Residents were advised to rely only on credible and official sources for updates.
While reassuring the public of its commitment to safety, the Command encouraged vigilance and urged residents to report any suspicious activity to nearby police stations or through its emergency lines.
The Lagos Police reiterated its resolve to protect lives and property, adding that it would continue to take all necessary measures to ensure sustained peace across the state.
