The Lagos State House of Assembly Speaker Mudashiru Obasa has emerged as the All Progressives Congress candidate for the Agege Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Obasa secured the party’s ticket unopposed during the APC primary election held yesterday across the 13 political wards in the constituency.
Party delegates and members unanimously endorsed him following his formal declaration of interest at a stakeholders’ meeting in Agege on May 13.
Obasa in a statement expressed gratitude to party leaders, stakeholders, supporters and residents of Agege for what he described as the overwhelming support and confidence reposed in him.
Obasa pledged to prioritise attracting greater federal presence to Agege, creating opportunities for youth empowerment, and improving infrastructure, education, healthcare and economic development.
Obasa, who has served as Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly for more than a decade, is widely regarded as one of the most influential figures in Lagos politics.
The APC House of Representatives primaries commenced nationwide on Saturday, following a last-minute adjustment to the timetable by the party’s National Working Committee as part of preparations for Nigeria’s 2027 general elections.
