The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, LASTMA, has intensified efforts to address the rising incidence of road crashes involving dispatch riders across major routes in Lagos State.
The agency’s General Manager, Olalekan Bakare-Oki in a statement today said the authority has initiated engagement with unions representing dispatch riders as part of a wider safety awareness and enforcement strategy
He explained that the new measures are being implemented to enhance compliance with traffic regulations among riders.
He noted that the planned forum would bring together rider unions, logistics companies, and other key stakeholders to address recurring safety challenges and reinforce compliance with traffic laws.
According to him, the initiative is designed to instill positive attitudes early, in line with the agency’s mandate to ensure safer roads through public education.
He added that between January and March, the programme reached approximately 38 to 39 per cent of schools across the state.
Bakare-Oki reiterated that the Lagos State Government remains committed to safeguarding lives and property through strengthened road safety initiatives.
