The Nigerians in Diaspora Commission has congratulated Nigerian-born nurse and social media personality, Bemi Orojuogun, popularly known as “London Bus Aunty”, following reports that a London bus stop has been named in her honour.
NiDCOM Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Abike Dabiri-Erewa, described the recognition as a remarkable achievement and a source of pride for Nigeria and Nigerians in the diaspora.
In a statement issued on Friday by NiDCOM Head of Media, Public Relations and Protocols Unit, Abdur-Rahman Balogun, Dabiri-Erewa said Orojuogun’s story demonstrated how passion, authenticity and positive representation of one’s heritage could create an impact beyond Nigeria.
“Mrs Orojuogun’s journey demonstrates how passion, authenticity and a positive representation of one’s heritage can create an impact far beyond the shores of Nigeria,” she said.
Orojuogun gained widespread attention on social media through her engaging videos featuring London’s iconic red buses and her humorous commentary on everyday life in the British capital.
Her content has earned her the affectionate nickname “London Bus Aunty” while also helping her connect with audiences through her distinctive personality and enthusiasm for London’s transport system.
