Governor Seyi Makinde may formally declare his ambition to contest the 2027 presidential election during a major political rally scheduled to hold on Thursday at Mapo Hall.
The event, tagged “Unity Mega Rally Ibadan 2026,” is expected to take place in Ibadan South-East Local Government Area and could also mark the official unveiling of a political alliance between the Peoples Democratic Party and the Allied Peoples Movement in Oyo State.
Sources familiar with the development indicated that the rally may serve as the launch pad for Makinde’s anticipated presidential bid ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The governor is also expected to unveil several aspirants contesting state and national elective offices on the platform of the APM.
The development follows recent defections and resignations by several political officeholders in Oyo State who reportedly left the PDP for the APM in preparation for the 2027 elections.
Among those expected to emerge on the APM platform are former Oyo State Commissioner for Finance, Bimbo Adekanmbi, who is tipped as the party’s governorship candidate, alongside Stanley Olajide, Olufemi Ajadi, and Shina Peller as senatorial candidates.
Candidates for the House of Representatives and state House of Assembly seats are also expected to be presented during the rally.
