Three political appointees have resigned from the Oyo State Government, marking another round of departures from Governor Seyi Makinde’s administration.
The officials are the Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Ayobami Oluwaseun Ojo; the governor’s Special Adviser on Budget and Economic Planning, Simeon Adegbola Oyeleke; and a member of the Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission, OYSIEC, Sunday Olugbenga Falana.
The three officials submitted their resignation letters , November second, with their decisions taking immediate effect.
Falana, in his resignation letter addressed to Governor Makinde through the Chief of Staff, expressed appreciation for the opportunity to serve on the state’s electoral commission but did not state any reason for his departure.
Ojo also announced his resignation in a letter forwarded to the governor through the Secretary to the State Government. He thanked the governor for the confidence reposed in him and the opportunity to serve as a member of the cabinet, without disclosing the circumstances surrounding his decision.
However, Oyeleke, a former member of the Oyo State House of Assembly and former local government chairman, cited dissatisfaction with the working environment within the administration.
In his resignation letter, he said the prevailing atmosphere was no longer conducive to effectively pursuing and fulfilling the aspirations of his people.
He, however, acknowledged the governor’s leadership and expressed gratitude for the support and opportunity to contribute to the administration’s policies and developmental programmes.
