The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has warned Nigerians against sharing a viral list of products circulating on social media and described as fake, adulterated or substandard.
The agency said the list was not an official NAFDAC publication and urged the public to disregard the unverified information.
In a statement posted on its official X account on Friday, NAFDAC warned that circulating the list could mislead consumers and unfairly damage the reputation of legitimate businesses.
“NAFDAC urges Nigerians to disregard the unverified list and avoid sharing information that could mislead consumers and unfairly damage legitimate businesses,” the agency said.
It advised consumers to rely on its official communication channels for accurate information on product alerts, recalls and other regulatory actions.
