The National Youth Service Corps has announced plans to overhaul its Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development programme by standardizing its curriculum to deepen impact and better equip corps members for the modern economy.
NYSC Director-General, Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu, disclosed this on Friday at the 2025 second SAED stakeholders’ summit in Abuja.
In a statement shared on the scheme’s official X handle on Saturday, Nafiu said the NYSC is pursuing a comprehensive digital transformation of SAED as a strategic response to youth unemployment.
The updated curriculum will now include emerging tech skills such asaartificial intelligence and mobile application development aligning training with current global and local market demands.
Nafiu also revealed that corps members are being integrated into key federal initiatives, including the 3 Million Technical Talent programme, and are being connected to remote work opportunities through platforms like outsource to Nigeria, NYSC Jobs.ng, and the SAED SME Toolkit.
Describing SAED as a cornerstone of youth empowerment in Nigeria, the DG noted that over 3.18 million corps members have undergone entrepreneurship and workplace readiness training since 2012, with more than 30,000 businesses formally registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission.
