Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa, and Yusuf Buhari are among notable figures who have secured tickets of the All Progressives Congress to contest for seats in the House of Representatives ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The APC conducted its House of Representatives primary election on Saturday across the country’s 360 federal constituencies as part of preparations for the next electoral cycle.
Ahead of the exercise, the party announced the disqualification of 14 aspirants from participating in the primaries across Ondo, Bauchi, Ebonyi, Kogi and Rivers states.
The National Publicity Secretary of the APC, Felix Morka, disclosed the development in a statement, explaining that the affected aspirants failed to pass the screening exercise conducted by the party’s screening committees.
Among those disqualified were serving members of the House of Representatives, including Iduma Igariwey, Anderson Allison, Awaji-Inombek Abiante and Boma Goodhead.
Other affected aspirants listed by the party include Adefisoye Tajudeen, Olusegun Ategbole, Seun Ajongbolo, Arowole Ayodeji, Morufu Ibrahim, Oseni Oyeniyi, Olaleye Adedipe, Bashir Bello, Sanni Ogembe and retired Air Commodore John Opara.
Morka stated that the screening process was carried out in line with the party’s established procedures and guidelines, although he did not disclose specific reasons behind the disqualifications.
