APC campaign spokesman, Seye Oladejo, has described Obafemi Hamzat as the most suitable candidate to govern Lagos State, arguing that his experience in government positions him to consolidate the achievements of the Babajide Sanwo-Olu administration.
Speaking on the Lagos governorship race, Oladejo said Hamzat’s years in government have given him a deep understanding of the workings of the state and the demands of governance.
He also criticised opposition candidates, including the ADC governorship candidate, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, questioning his experience and familiarity with the state’s affairs.
Oladejo cited Rhodes-Vivour’s public comments about learning Yoruba as an example of what he described as a lack of familiarity with the state’s cultural environment.
He argued that such shortcomings should be considered when assessing candidates seeking to govern Lagos.
The APC spokesman also dismissed allegations that Hamzat’s emergence as the party’s candidate was influenced by political godfatherism.
According to him, Hamzat emerged through the decision of the majority and was chosen based on what he described as his competence and integrity.
Oladejo further argued that the administration of former Lagos State governor, Bola Tinubu, laid out strategic plans for various sectors of the state, which he said successive administrations have continued to implement.
He maintained that APC administrations are best positioned to continue with what he described as the existing roadmap for Lagos.
On the rising cost of transportation, Oladejo attributed the increase largely to the rise in fuel prices, arguing that the Lagos State Government should not be held responsible for the impact of fuel price increases on transport fares.
Speaking on housing and rising rents, he urged residents to report landlords who impose what they consider to be unlawful or excessive charges.
Oladejo said addressing improper conduct in the housing sector requires the collective responsibility of residents and relevant authorities.
He urged Lagos residents to speak up and report cases of unlawful practices rather than allowing them to persist.
