The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, has elevated Senator Sharafadeen Alli, the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Oyo State for the 2027 election, from Ekarun Balogun to Ekerin Balogun of Ibadanland.
Alli, who represents Oyo South Senatorial District in the National Assembly, announced his elevation in a statement shared on his X account on Saturday.
The senator disclosed that he was unable to attend the ceremony held at the Olubadan Palace, Oke-Aremo, Ibadan, because he is currently in the Holy Land performing Umrah.
“With gratitude to Almighty Allah, I am deeply honoured to announce my elevation from Ekarun Balogun Olubadan of Ibadanland to Ekerin Balogun Olubadan of Ibadanland,” Alli said.
He thanked Oba Ladoja, the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland, and members of the Olubadan Advisory Council for the confidence reposed in him.
Alli also expressed appreciation to those who represented him at the ceremony, including Mogajis, traditional rulers, Baales, political associates, and friends.
He noted that the new position represents greater responsibility rather than merely a change in title.
