An unidentified construction worker has died while three others sustained injuries following the collapse of an uncomplicated two-storey building project on Akinola Street in the Fadeyi area of Lagos State.
According to local sources, the victims were part of a crew that chose to sleep overnight at the site to prepare for an early start on the next day’s construction work.
Emergency responders led by the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) alongside auxiliary safety teams, arrived at the scene shortly after the incident to commence search and rescue operations.
LASEMA Permanent Secretary, Dr. Femi Oke-Osanyintolu, who confirmed the incident said the cause of collapse cannot be ascertained presently.
Meanwhile, the survivors have been rushed to a nearby hospital for medical treatment, while emergency crews continue to clear the site to ensure no additional victims remain trapped.
