Super Falcons defender Osinachi Ohale has retired from international football after a 16-year career with the Nigerian national team.
The 34-year-old defender’s retirement brings an end to a career that saw her win five Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) titles and represent Nigeria at four FIFA Women’s World Cup tournaments.
Ohale was part of Nigeria’s WAFCON-winning teams in 2010, 2014, 2016, 2018 and 2024.
She also featured at four editions of the FIFA Women’s World Cup during her international career, establishing herself as a regular presence in the Super Falcons defence.
Across 16 years with the national team, Ohale represented Nigeria across different generations and major international competitions, earning recognition for her longevity and consistency.
Her international career included seven WAFCON appearances, further highlighting her long-standing contribution to the Super Falcons.
The Confederation of African Football, CAF, paid tribute to the defender, describing her career with the words, “Five WAFCON titles. One immortal legacy.”

Ohale’s retirement comes after Nigeria’s latest continental success in 2024, when the Super Falcons won another WAFCON title.
She leaves international football with five continental titles, four World Cup appearances and 16 years of service to Nigeria’s senior women’s national team.
