Concerned youths, elders and residents of Ijesaland in Osun East Senatorial District have called for the arrest and prosecution of Senator Francis Fadahunsi over an alleged inciting statement linked to the recent Osun governorship election.
The protesters made the demand during a peaceful procession in Ilesa, following reports of pre- and post-election violence in parts of Ijesaland.
They accused the senator, who represents Osun East in the National Assembly, of making a statement they alleged could inflame tensions and threaten the peace of the region.
The protesters called on the Nigeria Police Force and other security agencies to investigate the allegation and take appropriate legal action if Fadahunsi is found culpable.
They also demanded intensified intelligence-led operations across Ijesaland to uncover and recover illegal firearms and arrest suspected political thugs allegedly armed with weapons and threatening residents.
The protesters said security agencies must ensure that anyone found to have committed an offence is prosecuted, regardless of political affiliation, social standing or public office.

They further urged the authorities to strengthen security surveillance across vulnerable communities in the district to prevent further election-related violence.
The protesters stressed the need for political actors and their supporters to exercise restraint, warning that inflammatory rhetoric could undermine the peace and stability of Ijesaland.
