Immediate past Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, has dismissed speculation that he is planning to leave the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Adelabu spoke through a statement issued by his media office following the defection of his former media aide, Ajiboye Akande, from the APC to the Allied Peoples Movement.
The former minister clarified that Akande was no longer his personal assistant and had no official or political relationship with him.
Adelabu also reaffirmed his continued membership of the APC, saying his disagreement with the party over the Oyo governorship nomination was about the process and demand for transparency.
“I remain a member of APC and have no intention of leaving the party. My disagreement with aspects of the Oyo governorship nomination is about the process and the need for transparency and legitimacy, and not an excuse to abandon the party,” Adelabu said.
He added that he would not abandon the party or withdraw his support for Bola Ahmed Tinubu, whom he described as his political mentor and benefactor.

Adelabu was an APC governorship aspirant in Oyo State but lost the party’s primary election.
