Oyo State acting governor, Barrister Abduraheem Bayo Lawal, has congratulated Muslims in the state and across Nigeria on the celebration of Eid-el-Mawlid 2025, urging them to use the occasion to pray for peace and progress in the country.
In a statement issued by Dr. Sulaimon Olanrewaju, Special Adviser (Media) to Governor Seyi Makinde, the acting governor described the festival as spiritually significant, noting that it commemorates the birth of Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him).
Lawal said the commemoration offers Muslims a special opportunity to draw closer to Allah in worship and to seek divine intervention in the nation’s affairs.
He also expressed appreciation to the Muslim community in Oyo State for their continuous support for Governor Makinde’s administration over the past six years, calling for sustained partnership as the government works towards achieving sustainable development.
“On behalf of His Excellency, Governor ‘Seyi Makinde, let me use this opportunity to felicitate all Muslims in Oyo State and across the country on witnessing the Eid-el-Mawlid 2025,” the statement read.
Recall that the Federal Government declared Friday, September 5 as a public holiday to mark the occasion.
