The Director General of the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC), a body the Presidency has described as fictitious, Mathew Adeniyi Adeyemi, has denied ever meeting face-to-face with the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila.
Speaking from an undisclosed location during an interview with social media activist Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), Adeyemi said he could neither confirm nor deny Gbajabiamila’s involvement in the controversy surrounding the PFIPC.
His comments come about 72 hours after Gbajabiamila’s lawyer, Kemi Pinheiro (SAN), threatened legal action over allegations previously made against the Chief of Staff.
When asked whether Gbajabiamila could genuinely be unaware of the alleged fraud or was being untruthful, Adeyemi responded: “I wouldn’t say he is lying and I wouldn’t say he is saying the truth.”
According to him, the uncertainty surrounding the matter informed his call on President Bola Tinubu to constitute an independent investigation into the allegations.
Adeyemi is currently standing trial over his alleged role in operating the PFIPC, which the Presidency maintains does not exist. His case has been adjourned until July 14, 2026, at the Federal High Court in Abuja.
At a press briefing on June 25, 2026, Adeyemi alleged that Gbajabiamila demanded 48 per cent of the council’s purported N27.4 billion take-off grant—about N12.5 billion—and separately received N400 million linked to appointments associated with the agency.
Gbajabiamila has denied the allegations through his legal representatives, who have described the claims as false and threatened legal action against Adeyemi.
Prince Adeyemi just confessed he never met Gbajabiamila, and only had a phone call with someone he assumed was Gbaja once. But, I’m surprised he ran to VDM. As per what? pic.twitter.com/XPn2yaPck0
