The Presidency has described a recent interview granted by the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Obi, as evidence of what it termed a lack of understanding of critical national issues.
Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Media and Policy Communication, Daniel Bwala, made the remarks while reacting to comments made by Obi during a podcast interview.
During the interview, the former Governor of Anambra State stated that if elected President, he would engage in dialogue and negotiations with agitators from various parts of the country as part of efforts to address national challenges and promote unity.
Responding via a post on X, Bwala criticised Obi’s performance during the interview, accusing him of failing to provide clear and convincing answers to some of the questions posed to him.
According to the presidential aide, the interview exposed what he described as weaknesses in Obi’s policy positions and understanding of key governance issues.
“This is the bold vision of Peter Obi as expressed by himself on a podcast interview.
Have you taken your time to listen to his interview on a platform of his own unofficial spokesman?
Even with the leading questions, the guy no fit perform,” Bwala wrote.

The comments add to the ongoing political exchanges between supporters and representatives of the Tinubu administration and opposition figures ahead of future electoral contests.
Obi, who remains one of Nigeria’s prominent opposition voices, has consistently advocated dialogue, economic reforms, and governance reforms as part of his vision for the country.
The Presidency’s latest criticism reflects the continuing debate over policy alternatives and leadership approaches in Nigeria’s political landscape.
Q: Will you negotiate with bandits?
Peter Obi: In uniting the country, anybody who wants peace I will talk with him, I will negotiate with him. Anybody who wants war, we will go to war. pic.twitter.com/eAmb05UnTe
