The Presidency has clarified that former Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun, and the Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Ahmed Musa Dangiwa, resigned from their positions and were not sacked.
In a statement issued by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, it was explained that Edun tendered his resignation to President Bola Tinubu, citing health reasons.
Dangiwa was also said to have voluntarily stepped down, expressing appreciation to the President for the opportunity to serve in the Federal Executive Council.
Onanuga said the clarification became necessary to counter reports suggesting that the ministers were dismissed, describing such claims as inaccurate.
President Tinubu expressed appreciation to both former ministers for their service and contributions to the administration’s economic reform programme, wishing them success in their future endeavours.
He also charged the new Minister of Finance, Taiwo Oyedele, to consolidate ongoing reforms and advance the administration’s fiscal and economic agenda.
The President is expected to forward the nomination of Muttaqha Rabe Darma as the new Minister of Housing and Urban Development to the Senate for confirmation.
