The organising committee of the Prof Akin Oyebode Cup has officially shifted the grand finale from Tuesday, 20 October to Thursday, 22 October 2026.
The decision followed a thorough review of logistics and technical arrangements. Officials explained that the change was necessary to ensure smoother operations and better overall planning for the climax of the competition.
The revised match schedule for the grand finale is as follows:
Girls’ Category
– Final: Ado vs Irepodun/Ifelodun — 8:00 AM
Boys’ Category
– 3rd Place Play-off: Ikole vs Oye — 9:30 AM
– Final: Aiyekire vs Irepodun/Ifelodun — 1:00 PM
All games to be played at Oluyemi Kayode Stadium, Ado Ekiti.
Defending champions Irepodun/Ifelodun will feature in both the girls’ and boys’ finals, underlining their strong campaign throughout the tournament. Aiyekire, who produced a commanding 6-0 semi-final victory over Ikole, will provide stiff opposition in the boys’ showpiece. Ado, who advanced after Ikole failed to appear in the semi-finals, will challenge for the girls’ title.
The organising committee has assured all stakeholders that the new date will allow for improved coordination and a more successful event.
