A prominent political figure and former Director-General of the Oyo State Liaison Office, Wale Ajani, has formally resigned from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP). His resignation, effective January 10, 2026, was communicated in a letter addressed to the PDP Ward Chairman in Ward 6 of Ona-Ara Local Government.
In his resignation letter, Ajani attributed his departure to deep-seated structural issues within the party. He specifically pointed to “the prevailing uncertainties within the party at both the national and state levels,” highlighting the damaging emergence of factions, the imposition of caretaker committees, and a “persistent lack of internal democracy” as key reasons for his exit.
Ajani, expressed gratitude for the opportunity to contribute to the state’s growth. However, he stated that the current party climate was no longer conducive to his political aspirations, forcing him to step aside for his personal and political good.
The resignation has sparked immediate political discourse, with observers questioning its potential ripple effect within the Oyo State PDP ahead of the 2027 general elections. Notably, Ajani hinted at a significant future move, stating his intention to “prepare myself for a higher level of political engagement” and promising to announce details of a new political affiliation soon.
Ajani concluded his letter by wishing the PDP progress, marking a definitive end to this chapter of his political career as he prepares for his next move on the evolving Oyo State political landscape.
