Former Super Eagles coach Samson Siasia has advised current manager Eric Chelle to make full use of Ademola Lookman’s set-piece quality and Tolu Arokodare’s aerial strength when Nigeria face South Africa in a crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier today.
Nigeria head into the match in Bloemfontein on the back of a narrow 1-0 win over Rwanda in Uyo, where Wolverhampton Wanderers striker Arokodare came off the bench to score the decisive goal just five minutes after his introduction.
That result kept the Super Eagles within reach of Group C leaders South Africa, with victory at the Free State Stadium capable of cutting the gap between both sides to just three points.
Siasia, speaking on SuperSport, said the win over Rwanda should boost the team’s morale but warned that Bafana Bafana, buoyed by four consecutive victories in the qualifiers, their longest such run since 2002—would pose a stiff challenge.
“The important thing is to capitalise on the players’ strengths,” Siasia noted, pointing to Lookman’s dead-ball accuracy and Arokodare’s physical presence as key weapons against the South Africans.
