The Convener of the TAKE IT MOVEMENT in Oyo State, Amb. (Dr.) Opeyemi Ayanrinde, popularly known as MC Swagger, has declared the readiness of youths and grassroots political leaders across the state to mobilise support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and other All Progressives Congress (APC) candidates ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Ayanrinde, a grassroots mobiliser, media practitioner and radio and television broadcaster, made the declaration on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, while speaking with journalists in Ibadan.
He said the TAKE IT MOVEMENT had built a broad network of youths and political associates across the state and was prepared to deploy the structure towards campaigning, canvassing and grassroots mobilisation for candidates who shared its vision and were committed to working with the people.
Among those he listed for support were Senator Sharafadeen Abiodun Alli, PhD; Engineer Aderemi Abass Oseni, APC candidate for Oyo South Senatorial District; Hon. Dr. Niyi Yusuff, APC candidate for Ido/Ibarapa East Federal Constituency; and Hon. Babatunde Sunday Ogunlade, popularly known as Babs, the party’s candidate for Ibarapa East State Constituency.
He added that the movement would support other APC candidates across the 33 local government areas of Oyo State.
According to MC Swagger, the mobilisation would be a collective effort involving young people and emerging political leaders determined to play a more active role in shaping the political future of the state.
“We are the youths and young leaders across Oyo State. We are fully ready, set and prepared to campaign, mobilise, canvass and support all APC candidates who believe in our platform and our strength to deliver.”
He said political leadership should go beyond personal ambitions, stressing that elected representatives must have the capacity to develop people, remain connected to their constituents and create opportunities for their communities.
“We have done it for them in the past; it is time to do it again,” he declared.
The TAKE IT MOVEMENT convener also urged voters to assess candidates based on their track records, capacity, experience and relationship with the grassroots rather than relying solely on political rhetoric during election periods.
Ayanrinde said effective grassroots leadership requires a deep understanding of the aspirations and challenges of the people, as well as the ability to create opportunities for other leaders to emerge.
“We need people with political orientation, experience, exposure and fresh innovation,” he said.
He identified integrity, communication, empathy, resilience, direction, alignment and commitment, among other qualities, as essential attributes voters should consider when choosing political leaders.
According to him, integrity is critical to building public trust, effective communication enables leaders to listen and communicate their vision, while empathy allows them to understand the needs and concerns of the people they represent.
Reaffirming his political allegiance, Ayanrinde declared his continued support for the APC ahead of the 2027 elections.
“APC is our party. Broom is the logo,” he said.
He maintained that the TAKE IT MOVEMENT would continue to engage youths and grassroots stakeholders across Oyo State as political activities intensify ahead of the 2027 elections.
