The All Progressives Congress (APC) says President Bola Tinubu never promised to eradicate poverty within a specific period, urging Nigerians to assess his performance at the end of his eight-year tenure.
The party’s National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, stated this during an interview today, while responding to questions about Tinubu’s 2023 campaign promises to tackle poverty and hunger, create jobs and stimulate economic growth.
Morka argued that campaign promises on long-term development should be viewed as objectives to be achieved progressively rather than targets that must be fulfilled within a few years. He maintained that Tinubu never promised to end poverty within his first 100 days or the first two to three years in office.
The APC spokesperson also cited the possibility of a second four-year term, saying it would provide the President an opportunity to consolidate his policies and continue ongoing reforms.
When asked when Nigerians should expect the fulfilment of promises, including the creation of one million jobs in the digital economy, Morka questioned the demand for a specific timeline, insisting that the President should be given the opportunity to complete his tenure.

He urged Nigerians to evaluate the administration’s performance at the end of eight years, when, according to him, there would be an opportunity to assess the extent to which its promises had been fulfilled.
