President Bola Tinubu has declared that Nigeria will produce 10 million tonnes of liquid steel annually by 2030, positioning the country as a major player in the global steel industry.
Speaking on Wednesday in Abuja at the inaugural stakeholders’ summit on the development of the steel sector, Tinubu, represented by Vice-President Kashim Shettima said his administration is committed to transforming the steel industry into the nation’s “industrial heart” and a key driver of economic diversification.
The president reaffirmed that revamping the steel sector is central to Nigeria’s industrialisation agenda.
He also mentioned that his plan is central with the goal of creating jobs, boosting local manufacturing, and reducing reliance on imports in Nigeria.
