A new generation of aspiring media professionals has officially begun its journey as the TNM Media Academy held its second matriculation ceremony for the 2025/2026 academic session in Ibadan.
The ceremony, held on Wednesday, marked the formal admission of fresh students into the academy, with a strong emphasis on preparing them for the rapidly evolving global media industry.
The event featured a colourful academic procession as faculty members and newly admitted students, dressed in ceremonial gowns, marched into the academy hall to the applause of proud parents and guardians who gathered to witness the milestone moment.
In his opening address, the Rector of the academy, Abdulrassaq Abdulganeey, popularly known as Mr. GRA, urged the students to embrace the opportunities ahead of them as they prepare for careers in modern media.
He noted that the academy is committed to training students to succeed in a global media landscape shaped by fast-paced technological change and digital innovation.
According to him, the institution’s training model focuses not only on building technical competence but also on instilling strong ethical values required to thrive in the profession.
The ceremony reached its peak when the Deputy Rector, Dr Kamoru, administered the matriculation oath, officially inducting the students into the academic community as they pledged to abide by the academy’s regulations and the ethical standards of the media profession.
Also speaking at the event, the Head of the Mass Communication Department, Olaleye Kazeem, encouraged the students to go beyond ambition and commit themselves to hard work and discipline in pursuit of excellence.
Similarly, a staff member, Ganiyu Isa, advised the matriculants to remain focused and dedicated to their academic journey.
With the media industry increasingly shifting toward digital-first platforms, the academy says it remains committed to producing industry-ready graduates equipped with practical skills needed to succeed in modern journalism and communication.
