The United States Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has announced plans to deport at least 124 Nigerians identified among what it described as the “worst of the worst” criminal aliens in the country.
The disclosure was contained in a statement published on the agency’s website on Wednesday as part of its ongoing immigration enforcement campaign.
According to the DHS, the affected Nigerians are among foreign nationals convicted of serious criminal offences and are listed on its register of high-priority deportation cases.
While the agency published the names and photographs of the individuals, it did not disclose the specific crimes for which each person was convicted or the timeline for their removal from the United States.
“The U.S. Department of Homeland Security is highlighting the worst of the worst criminal aliens arrested by the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE),” the statement read.
It added that under the current DHS leadership, immigration authorities were fulfilling President Donald Trump’s directive to carry out mass deportations, beginning with convicted criminal aliens.
“Under DHS leadership, the hardworking men and women of DHS and ICE are fulfilling President Trump’s promise and carrying out mass deportations — starting with the worst of the worst,” the agency stated.
Among the Nigerians named by the DHS are Sunday Adediora, Sunday Kunkushi, Mkpouto Etukudoh, Marcus Unigwe, Olaniyi Ojikutu, Boluwaji Akingunsoye, Ejike Asiegbunam, Emmanuel Mayegun Adeola, Bamidele Bolatiwa, Ifeanyi Nwaozomudoh, Aderemi Akefe, Solomon Wilfred, Chibundu Anuebunwa, Joshua Ineh, Usman Momoh, Oluwole Odunowo, Bolarinwa Salau and Oriyomi Aloba.
