Any bank that allows Turaki-led PDP to open an account for the sale of nomination forms will be in trouble. I will seal off any house that allows them to use it as the PDP headquarters.

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has dismissed the inauguration of a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) caretaker committee by supporters of Kabiru Turaki, describing the move as fraudulent.

Wike warned Nigerians against being misled by what he called attempts to create confusion within the party, insisting that there is only one legitimate PDP with its registered national secretariat at Wadata House, Wuse Zone 5, Abuja.

He maintained that the caretaker committee announced by Turaki and his supporters was an attempt to deceive the public, adding that there is no leadership vacuum in the party as being claimed.

Wike further argued that the Supreme Court judgement did not create any leadership gap within the PDP.

He also insisted that any attempt by the group to sell nomination forms or act in the party’s name amounts to fraud.

According to him, the PDP national convention held at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja, and witnessed by officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), remains the only recognised convention of the party, which produced its current national leadership.

Meanwhile, the Board of Trustees (BoT) of the PDP, led by Senator Adolphus Wabara, has announced the appointment of a 13-member interim National Working Committee for the party.

Wabara said the decision followed provisions of the PDP constitution and was necessitated by what he described as a leadership vacuum arising from a Supreme Court judgement that nullified the Ibadan convention.

The interim committee is chaired by former Minister of Special Duties, Tanimu Turaki.

The decision was taken at a National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting of the Turaki-led faction held at the Yar’Adua Centre in Abuja.

The meeting was attended by several prominent stakeholders, including Governor Seyi Makinde, former Niger State Governor Babangida Muazu, former Information Minister Professor Jerry Gana, Senator Adolphus Wabara, Tanimu Turaki, and former Women Affairs Minister Zainab Maina, among others.

The group also declared that the Abuja convention which produced the Abdulrahman Mohammed-led National Working Committee was invalid.
