The Lagos State Film and Video Censors Board (LSFVCB) has commemorated World Photography Day by introducing children to photography, visual storytelling and creative expression through a series of practical and educational activities.
The initiative, organised in collaboration with public and private institutions and independent professional photographers, provided young participants with an opportunity to explore the art and technical processes behind photography and visual content creation.
As part of the programme, the Public Service Staff Development Centre (PSSDC) and the Lagos State Records and Archives Bureau (LASRAB) hosted the children for a studio experience and an educational tour of the archival museum.
The participants also received hands-on camera training from professional photographers and volunteers, who shared practical knowledge and guided them through the process of capturing images and telling stories through photography.
The programme further featured an educational visit to Racomic Photo Studio, where the children gained deeper insight into professional photography and its creative applications.
They were also taken behind the scenes at the PSSDC transmission studio, where they learned about some of the technical processes involved in producing and transmitting visual content.
Through the various activities, the children gained practical experience and a better understanding of how images are captured, stories are communicated and visual content is created.
The LSFVCB said the initiative reflects its commitment to nurturing young talent, promoting creativity and empowering the next generation of visual storytellers to see Lagos and the world from fresh and diverse perspectives.
The programme was held under the theme, “Different Eyes, Different Stories, One Lagos,” reinforcing the message that every picture tells a story and every child has a unique perspective to share.
