The Peoples Democratic Party has restated central control of its structures, as a caretaker committee backed by Federal Capital Territory Minister, Nyesom Wike declared itself the party’s only recognised leadership and dissolved state executives in 14 states.

The decision followed a meeting in Abuja, where the committee’s acting chairman, Abdulrahman Mohammed, said it was mandated by party leaders and the Board of Trustees to manage PDP affairs for 60 days. He warned members against parallel meetings or rival claims to authority.

In a communiqué, the committee dismissed reports that a separate executive led by Turaki had been recognised by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), calling the claims false.

As part of its resolutions, the caretaker committee ratified the dissolution of PDP state working committees in Borno, Bauchi, Oyo, Zamfara, Yobe, Ekiti, Bayelsa, Enugu, Ebonyi, Anambra, Delta, Taraba, Kano, and Lagos, and confirmed caretaker committees to manage party affairs in those states.

The committee also assigned portfolios to strengthen internal coordination: Professor Adenike Ogunse as Women Leader, Engineer Deji Doherty as Deputy National Secretary, Hon. Olaka Nwogu as Treasurer, Jungudo Haruna Mohammed as Publicity Secretary, and Ambassador Dr. Ibrahim Bala-Aboki as Youth Leader.

The committee said state congresses would start on January 9, 2026, before a national convention.
