President Bola Tinubu has commended the Dangote Group for its investments in key sectors of the Nigerian economy, saying they will boost job creation, strengthen local production and reduce dependence on imports.
The President, represented by Vice President Kashim Shettima, gave the commendation during a visit to the Dangote Group pavilion at the 32nd Nigeria Economic Summit in Abuja on Monday.
Tinubu highlighted the Group’s investments in cement, fertiliser, sugar, salt and petroleum refining, noting that such ventures contribute to employment generation, industrial growth and foreign exchange conservation.
He said his administration was working to create an enabling environment for public and private-sector investments, stressing that Nigeria could achieve sustainable economic development through increased productivity and industrial expansion.
The President also acknowledged that Nigeria had operated below its economic potential for too long, maintaining that economic development required sustained efforts rather than shortcuts.
The 2026 Nigeria Economic Summit, themed “Growth That Works: Delivering Jobs, Productivity and Shared Prosperity,” brought together policymakers, business leaders and investors to discuss strategies for driving economic growth, improving productivity and creating jobs.
