Chelsea FC have sacked head coach Liam Rosenior after less than four months in charge, following a 3-0 defeat to Brighton & Hove Albion.
Rosenior, 41, was appointed on January 6 after the departure of Enzo Maresca on New Yearâs Day.
He joined from Strasbourg on a five-and-a-half-year deal, with an option for an additional year.
Despite the long-term contract, Chelsea moved to terminate his appointment after just 23 matches, with Calum McFarlane named interim head coach until the end of the season.
The decision follows a poor run of form, with Chelsea losing five consecutive Premier League matches without scoring.
The slump has significantly dented the clubâs hopes of qualifying for next seasonâs UEFA Champions League.
Chelsea dropped to seventh in the table after the defeat at the Amex Stadium, where goals from Ferdi KadÄąoÄlu, Jack Hinshelwood, and Danny Welbeck secured victory for Brighton.
The result leaves Chelsea seven points behind Liverpool FC, who currently occupy the final Champions League qualification spot with a game in hand.
