President Bola Tinubu has requested the Senate to confirm the nomination of Joseph Olasunkanmi Tegbe as a Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
The request was read during plenary today by Senate President Godswill Akpabio in a formal letter transmitted from the Presidency.
Citing Section 147(2) of the 1999 Constitution (as amended), which empowers the President to appoint ministers subject to Senate confirmation, President Tinubu urged lawmakers to give the request prompt consideration.
In the same correspondence, the President also sought confirmation of two additional nominees: Ambassador Sola Enikanolaiye as Minister of State, and Rabiu Abdullahi Umar as Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA).
According to a statement by presidential spokesperson Bayo Onanuga, the nomination of Tegbe has already been formally transmitted to the Senate for screening and approval.
Tegbe was recently nominated as Minister of Power following the resignation of Adebayo Adelabu, who stepped down to pursue his governorship ambition in Oyo State ahead of the 2027 elections.
Like his predecessor, Tegbe hails from Oyo State.
He is a seasoned fiscal and economic expert with over 35 years of experience across both the public and private sectors.
He previously served as Senior Partner and Head of Advisory Services at KPMG Africa, where he led major initiatives in fiscal policy reform, governance transformation, and institutional development.
Over the years, Tegbe has also advised several government agencies and private sector organisations on strategic reforms, regulatory frameworks, and investment structuring.
