One of the governorship aspirants of the All Progressives Congress in Oyo State, Fatai Buhari, has declared his readiness to participate in the party’s governorship primary ahead of the next election cycle.
Buhari made the declaration on Monday during a meeting with members of the APC executive led by the party’s state chairman, Moses Adeyemo, at the party secretariat in Oke-Ado, Ibadan.
The senator, who represents Oyo North Senatorial District, expressed confidence in the leadership of the party to conduct a peaceful, transparent, and credible primary election.
According to him, his political journey and current position within the APC were built on principles, competence, and credibility, qualities he said should guide the party’s selection process.
“The leadership of APC is known and respected for the position I am occupying today as a result of my principles, competence and credibility, which are good enough to guarantee free and fair primaries in the state,” Buhari said.
He also maintained that any aspirant unwilling to participate in a competitive primary election may not possess the capacity required to lead the party into a general election.
“Any aspirant who is afraid of going into primaries with others is not competent to be the flag bearer of APC because the candidature of such a person cannot give the party the deserved victory in the general elections,” he added.
