The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has revealed that opposition parties are currently exploring possible political realignments ahead of the 2027 general elections in a bid to build a stronger coalition against the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Speaking in an interview, the National Publicity Secretary of the ADC, Bolaji Abdullahi, said discussions were ongoing among opposition figures and parties on the need for greater unity ahead of the next election cycle.

Abdullahi acknowledged that the exit of key political figures such as Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso from the ADC would have an impact on opposition politics. However, he maintained that achieving a broader opposition alliance remained both possible and necessary to effectively challenge the APC in 2027.
He stressed that no single opposition party could easily confront the ruling party without collaboration and strategic political realignment.

Meanwhile, Abdullahi dismissed claims that the ADC had endorsed any preferred presidential aspirant ahead of the elections
According to him, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar does not have an automatic guarantee of securing the party’s presidential ticket, insisting that the ADC remains open and competitive for all aspirants.
He said the party would follow due democratic processes in selecting its eventual presidential candidate for the 2027 election.
