The Lagos State Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education has warned parents, guardians and members of the public against individuals circulating e-flyers on social media and claiming to facilitate the transfer of pupils and students between schools in the state.
The ministry said the individuals are not staff or representatives of the Lagos State Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education and advised members of the public not to patronise them or make payments to them.
According to the ministry, anyone seeking information or assistance regarding school transfers should visit the 4th Floor, Block 5, Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, Alausa, Ikeja, for complete information on the approved procedures.
Transfer to Model Colleges Closed
The ministry also announced that transfers to model colleges are now closed.
Parents and guardians were urged to rely only on official government channels for information concerning school transfers and to be cautious of individuals offering to process transfers through social media platforms.
Requirements for Transfer into Government Schools
The ministry also released the requirements and approved fees for transfers into government junior and senior secondary schools in Lagos State.
Applicants are required to provide the following:
For SS1 applicants:
- First and second term results of JS3.
- BECE examination number.
For JS2 applicants:
- Second and third term results of JS1.
Other required documents include:
- Birth certificate.
- Passport photograph.
- Application letter addressed to the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, Alausa, Ikeja.
Approved Transfer Fees
The ministry listed the approved fees as follows:
- Public to public transfer — Junior or Senior School: ₦5,000 form fee.
- Private to public transfer — Junior School: ₦10,000.
- Private to public transfer — Senior School: ₦20,000.
The ministry advised parents, guardians and other members of the public to obtain accurate information directly from the ministry and avoid making payments to unauthorised individuals claiming to facilitate school transfers.
Parents are encouraged to verify all transfer-related information through official channels before submitting documents or making any payment.
